This edition of the 102nd will answer the burning question: “why is Lansing so lonely the week of Memorial Day?”
Here’s a hint: “why is Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel so crowded this week?”
The Mackinac Policy Conference sponsored by the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce attracts politicians, business and non-profit leaders, media and those who are involved in policy and politics. It’s at the Grand Hotel and often provides a setting for state and local leaders to lay out their vision for Michigan. Often there’s a major policy announcement. Last year, the Governor announced an initiative to turn around Michigan’s population decline.
We’ve taken a look at the agenda and speakers. While there is nothing that clearly relates to animal welfare, the conference does provide ample opportunities for side-bar conversations that may very well address pending legislation and other issues of note to animal advocates.
