Recognizing the growing consumer desire to support those with similar values, even when they have legal matters that don’t involve animals or animal law, the Animal Friendly Attorneys™ designation provides assurance that an attorney:
- Has objectively demonstrated a commitment to advancing animal protections and rights, both in her or his professional and personal life
- Has pledged to act in accordance with and advance the Mission of Attorneys for Animals
- Has pledged not to knowingly take any action in his or her practice that will cause harm to an animal
Each inductee into the Animal Friendly Attorneys™ program:
- Is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan or that of another state.
- Is a private-sector attorney taking cases in a variety of practices areas, not only animal law cases.
- Has malpractice insurance.
To be selected for the Animal Friendly Attorneys™ program, an inductee must undergo a thorough application process, have demonstrated animal-related activities in both Service and Professional categories, and be approved by the Attorneys for Animals board of directors.
Our Logo and the Leaf
The designated attorneys are authorized to display the specially designed Animal Friendly Attorneys™ logo on their website and use it in their email signature. Those attorneys who are vegan or vegetarian will display the logo with a green leaf.
